The United Arab Emirates is keen to assist the efforts of the 4th Government of the United Republic of Tanzania in strengthening the Union of Tanzania, by giving aid assistance to both part of the Union.
The United Arab Emirates Red Crescent through the Embassy of The United Arab Emirates, has donated a total of seventy five tons of an assortment of food to Mainland and Zanzibar in response to the appeal made by the Government of Tanzania for food aid to alleviate food shortage in the country.
The donation which consists of rice, wheat, sugar, powdered milk, dates etc, will be distributed to areas with food shortage through District Commissioners offices in the affected areas.
Part of the shipment was handed over by the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent in Mbulu, Karatu and Same on the Mainland in the presence of United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Tanzania H.E. Mallalla Mubarak Suweid Al-Ameri.
Consignments for Unguja and Pemba have been handed over to the Tanzania Red Cross for distribution to the need in affected areas in the Islands. The distribution is taking place thorough District Commissioners in affected areas in the Isle.
The United Arab Emirates is considering renovating some Pemba Hospitals to upgrade services offered to Pemba residents. Details for the assistance will be issued soon.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday in the Embassy of The United Arab Emirates, Director of Union Affairs in the Vice President’s office, Mary Anita Ngowi, on behalf of The Government of Tanzania, thanked H.E. Mallalla Mubarak Suweid Al-Ameri for the aid. She acknowledged the assistance from UAE as a vital assistance at this time in the affected areas as lives will be saved to help affected citizen.
She commended the UAE for the assistance which was directed to both part of the Union, and assured H.E. Mallalla Mubarack Suweid Al-Ameri that the Vice President’s office will work together with the UAE for assisting both part of the Union in order to strengthen the Union of Tanzania and the relationship between Tanzania and UAE.
